7 Exercises You Can Do Right In Your Chair!

Chair exercises

There is nothing you can do if the nature of your job is to sit on your chair for a very long time. Of course, you can’t stand up all the time or else you won’t get things done. It is just frustrating to see that you start gaining weight because your job does not require physical movements at all.

If you feel this way, something has to change. Just because your job requires you to be seated for a long time does not mean you can’t do anything to stop gaining weight or from developing heart diseases. In fact, there are exercises that you can do on your chair right now while you are working.

It does not hurt to keep your body moving while you are at work. As long as it does not affect your work and you are comfortable with the exercises, it is good enough.

Remind yourself

Sometimes, you are too focused on your work that you forget to keep moving. This is why you have to set an alarm depending on when you want to do the exercises. You can set it every 40 minutes or 1 hour. Once the alarm rings, you have no choice but to stop what you are doing and start the exercises.

Besides, it is not like you have to run outside or hit the gym. You will just be in your chair. It is still not a violation of work rules. You can continue doing your work anyway. It doesn’t hurt to do some arm stretching or leg stretching at your desk.

It also does not hurt if you do hamstring stretch or lower body stretch. You might be laughed at, but it is fine. As long as you don’t disturb others and you are focused on being healthy, you have nothing to worry about. For sure, your officemates will follow you the moment they start realizing the value of chair exercises.

Be consistent

Now that you understand the need for doing exercises at work, you have to keep doing it. The moment you notice that you have been sitting for a long time, you have to be alarmed. Take note that people who sit for an extended number of hours are as physically unhealthy as those who are heavy smokers.

You must do the exercises not just because you feel bad about your body right now, but because you want to maintain a healthy lifestyle. You have allowed yourself to be lazy for a very long time. It is time for you to change your ways and start doing favors for your own health.

Just interrupt the sitting

If you really are busy with work and you can’t do exercises, it is fine. The goal is to just interrupt the sitting. You may act as if you are busy doing something else not in front of your computer. This means that you have to walk around the hallways. You can also choose the toilet located farthest from your office. Use the stairs instead of the lift.

You can volunteer to carry stuff to another room. You should also volunteer doing some field work every now and then. In doing so, you will not be seen as evading work. You are still doing important tasks, but not in front of your computer.

Must have to change now

You might not realize the value of doing exercises if you still don’t suffer from the health risks. However, the moment you start developing heart ailments and other problems, you wish you have changed your lifestyle earlier.

While you are young or while you still didn’t have serious problems, you need to do something. You need to find motivation so you can finally put an end to your “lazy” lifestyle. Doing these chair exercises is just the start.

It also helps that you do something after work. You have to hit the gym whenever you can. If you have to keep working at home, you need to do some exercises while at home. The point is to keep moving whenever you possibly could.

Below is an infographic to help you with the best possible chair exercises ways while at work. Again, these chair exercises don’t require you to leave your chair. You can do it any time you want. These moves won’t interrupt work. They might be very simple, but at least, you do something. It is better than allowing yourself to keep sitting for an entire day.
